Piazza XXIX Marzo
Spring 2009
The spring semester of 2009 was spent in Orvieto, Italy where our architectural education was grounded in the hill town of Italy. We were immersed in the culture and asked to create a design to enliven the Piazza XXIX Marzo. Our design blended sculpture with play by proposing a kid friendly insertion to an otherwise utilitarian piazza. The design mimics a child's toy found in any doctor's office waiting room where people can interact with the piece by sliding oversized geometric shapes along a rail. At night the pieces will glow, allowing the piazza to be used at all times.
