Hazelwood House
Fall 2009 - Spring 2010

This was the final project of my college career. It was intended to be a residential component to the Hazelwood School in Glasgow, Scotland. This school houses a special population of dual-sensory impaired individuals, the only one of it's kind. As no architectural precedents existed for this kind of project, it was our goal to fully research and empathize with these young adults, designing this facility to help them to learn life-skills necessary for the real world. By understanding their situation, I focused on highlighting tactile and olfactory cues to aid in the creation of cognitive maps necessary in mobility. All efforts were employed to stimulate the eyes of the skin.
