'Beautiful Drawings'
Spring 2009
The spring semester of 2009 was spent in Orvieto, Italy where our architectural education was grounded in the hill town of Italy. We were immersed in the culture and asked to compose two 'beautiful drawings'. The first was derived from a sculpture in Ravello where graphite on watercolor paper depicted the contrast of the man-made sculpture and the natural vegetation that was about to overtake it. The second drawing inverted the light and shadow on the Pantheon ceiling. Pen was used to darken the light and a watercolor wash depicted the shadow.
